About LRS

We all have at some point deceived ourselves in our attempt to make worldly passions a legitimate Christian pursuit. As a result of this, a misunderstood and cheap understanding of 'grace' has emerged and continues to be embraced by the Christian community - a license that permits complacency in our walk with the Lord.

All of us are products of our experiences and learning over the years. In the pursuit of knowledge, many have embraced worldly wisdom. The Scriptures warn us of the resulting condition, saying ‘If the light within is darkness, how great is that darkness’. These preparatory materials are structured in a manner to allow the Word of God to study your lives (in contrast to what we usually engage in - a ‘routine Bible study’). In order to help you prepare for the sessions, please read the entire document and complete the assignments mentioned in each area you study. This will allow God's Word to penetrate and take root deep within you.

In Christ,

K. O John

Preparatory Material-2

Autobiography- Assignment-2

You need to prepare an autobiography

Divide your life into 7-year periods, and have a few sheets of paper for each period. Spend 1-2 hours every week; recollect memories of events, people, and incidents (happy, sad, and fearful), and how they influenced you, then and later in life. Various aspects of your life, faith, emotion, preferences, liking, disliking, behaviours, responses etc how they were influenced, need to be entered

Areas to Review:

  1. Your childhood and youth experiences, which you strongly feel, have shaped you and your character.
  2. Your work/ student life, as it is presently (reflect on your main pursuits and also review any stress faced).
  3. Relationships that have impacted you significantly, both emotionally or physically.
  4. How your time is spent during an average week. (can you observe any patterns, any large pockets where time is spent? Is this in sync with your pursuits in life?)
  5. Your church life (how has church, fellowships, etc had a positive/negative influence on you). There are some important themes in life which will be studied in this seminar.

Preparatory Material -1

THE CENTRAL PROBLEM OF HUMANITY - ASSIGNMENT 1

Secondaries arise from the primary cancer.

Symptoms are the consequence of an underlying disease. But usually, symptoms draw attention and many of us treat only symptoms. Pain, fever, and loss of appetite are symptoms. Similarly in life, many issues that we face are considered problems and we tend to solve them. Lack of finance is an issue and we believe if we solve this we will be free. But it leads to the love of money which is the root of all evil. We think solving the symptoms will make us free. Freedom to live as we want without any restriction is considered a healthy life. But when everyone wants to enjoy such freedom there is only chaos and destruction. So a question arises, What is the true need of man You can add more and find out how the bible refutes that. If these are not our needs, then what do you think is your need? You may say happiness and peace. You will get these only when your true need is met. Fear God, Word of God, Obedience to God. But then these are only theoretical statements because we do not have time for these. We are not earnest in seeking them. Do we finally conclude, we do not know what is our true need? We are just seeking what everybody else before us were seeking. Blindly following them. The wisest man in the world sought all these things and made a sad conclusion. It is all mere vanity, chasing of shadow. But we continue the same pursuit... Why?

ASSIGNMENT

Study the bible passages (What we think vs What Bible teaches)  in the table to the right and write what you have learned from each passage. Your understanding of the topic and what the Bible says about it, were there any differences? if yes, what was the difference?
